pentek dgd 2501, pentek dgd 5005 Water Filters

Pentek DGD filters have two separate gradient density layers that help to enhance filter performance. The outer layer of the filter has a larger micron rating to catch larger particles while the inner layer of the filter has a smaller micron rating to catch the majority of the remaining particles. The DGD (dual-gradient density) series will not impart taste, odor or color to any liquid that is being filtered. These filters also have a superior chemical resistance and are not prone to bacterial attacks.

Pentek’s DGD series have three different varieties of filters. The most fine filter is the Pentek DGD-2501. This filter has an outer micron rating of 25 microns and has an inner micron rating of 1 micron. The DGD-2501 is the finest filter in the DGD series. The middle and most commonly used filter in the DGD series is the Pentek DGD-5005. The DGD-5005 has an outer micron rating of 50 microns and an inner micron rating of 5 microns. The final filter in the DGD series is the Pentek DGD-7525. The DGD-7525, is the most coarse filter in this series and has a 75 micron outer layer and a 25 micron rating for the inner layer.

The Pentek DGD series is excellent for all residential, rural, municipal, commercial and industrial use. However, residential use is the most common. The main reason that this filter is used so often is it basically is two filters built into one. If you are on a smaller budget, or tight on space, then this would be the filter for you. Instead of having to install two different housings and two different filters, only one filter housing and one Pentek DGD filter, will attain nearly the same performance as with two separate filters and housings.

The most commonly used filter in the DGD series is either the Pentek DGD-2501 or the Pentek DGD-5005. These two filters are the most commonly used since their final micron rating is so low. The reason one would choose to use the DGD-5005 over the DGD-2501 is that the 5005 does not have as fine of final filter as the 2501 and will not plug up as quickly as the 2501, giving a longer filter life. However, if you are looking to remove the most sediment from your water, then your best choice would be the DGD-2501. The main use of the Pentek-7525 is used a pre-filter, since its final micron rating is only 25 microns. If you have a lot of larger particles in your water and are finding that your 1 or 5 micron filters are plugging up very quickly, then the DGD-7525 would be an excellent choice to use as a pre-filter. The Pentek DGD series of water filters is a very popular choice and is excellent for all residential, commercial and industrial uses.
